Ashton Baines

It’s nearly 48 hours since 81-year-old Ashton Baines, from Manton, Oakham, was last seen.

Despite extensive enquiries being carried out, including ground and CCTV searches, officers have not been able to locate Ashton, and are growing increasingly worried for his welfare.

Ashton, who suffers with Alzheimer’s and other medical conditions was last seen at around 6pm on Tuesday 4 August at the residential home in Manton where he lives.

He is described as white, of slim build, around 5ft 10ins tall with grey receding hair. He is believed to be wearing a black fleece, dark blue shirt, green trousers and brown shoes.

Sergeant James Cross, from the Missing Person team, said: “The more time that passes without us hearing from Ashton the more concerned we become.

“We don’t believe he has any money with him so would be unable to travel too far, however, he is a fast walker and may have travelled some distance from where he lives.

“His family are obviously extremely concerned and are desperate to find him. “Please, if you are out and about keep an eye out for Ashton. He is extremely vulnerable. Contact us on 999 straight away if you see him. It is imperative that we get there as soon as possible and give him the support he needs.”
