Leicestershire Police Melton Mowbray Running Busy Market Stall

Leicestershire Police Melton Mowbray Running Busy Market Stall

Melton Mowbray Police busy selling crime preventing goods and
giving out free advice from a market stall yesterday.

Quite a contrast to recent events here in Oakham.
The police station closed and all the crime prevention stuff
Jon used to sell from the front desk ended up in a skip.

Since opening a pointless police enquiry desk in the reception
at Rutland County Council Offices many members of the
public complain about their visits they are just told call go away
and call Leicestershire Police's and profitable 101 service.

If that is the case I see little point of the desk being open.

We see on Twitter officers of specialist departments who
used to give out normal rate direct numbers asking people
to call 101 and ask to speak to them.

One member of the public most annoyed, told me on
Monday I pay already through my council tax why should
I pay extra to report a crime.

If I want to speak to a person at Leicestershire Police
I call  01162 222 222  which is free from my mobile.
the system is very good if you know the officer's name or collar
number you get put straight through to them or their
voice mail or you can press 3 to report a crime or
incident.

Vodafone is making more than £2m a year from public reporting
calls using their 101 service.
