Cottesmore Hunt Supporter Petition Against Oakham Town Council Decision To Ban Hunt

Oakham Town Council have without any explanation refused the Cottesmore Hunt the use of Cutts Close for their Boxing Day Meet, a place where it has been held since before I was born (a long time).

Looks like the decision might have been based on their pockets rather than the benefit of the people of Oakham and the rest of Rutland.

The illuminating word to pick out here is 'RENT' when applied to the Circus application !!!!

I can assure the supporter the Council did give reasons and it had nothing to do with
RENT It has been agreed to negotiate with the Circus not to charge on Boxing Day
in Return for a rent reduction which will benefit Oakham residents. The Town Council
would have like to give its reasons but we have found our press spokesperson is pro
hunting and does not know how to be impartial and has only spoke to the media supporting the
hunt.

What I find interesting is the supporters don't appear to be considering an alternative
location it would have been the first thing I would of thought of, why don't they
ask RCC to use one of their car parks?

To all my country pursuit loving friends:
Oakham Town Council has banned the Cottesmore Boxing Day meet in Cutts Close where it has been all my life (and longer) with no explanation given. There is a petition in the post attached. Even if you are not from Rutland it would be great if you could find the time to sign the petition - this is the thin end of the wedge for our country pursuits !!!

As a local councillor I try to treat all our residents fairly so here is the link to the
supporters.
