Grounds Maintenance Tender Oakham Town Council Will it include Oakham Cemetery
Some time ago Oakham Town Council agreed to take over the Cemetery neglected by
Rutland County Council.
How is the town council going to pay for the upkeep? a double taxation of course
resident already pay RCC to do the job. Now they are expecting residents to
pay again from 2016 in the same way they are asking for a contribution towards
the street lighting energy bill. despite the insults what the son of a former town councillor tweeted
after a Rutland Radio News report, Rutland County Council did say in a meeting with
OTC councillors it was an option for RCC to turn of street lighting in residential areas
of Oakham, Where does RCC think Oakham Town Council is going to find the money
they demand. They won't be cutting the highest council tax in England even when they are
no longer paying for services they already bill residents for. I imagine a scene at RCC when they
senior overpaid RCC staff sit down with the senior Tory Leadership the first thing they consider
is preserving their fat salaries and allowances before anything else.
Knowing Rutland County Council has done little to meet the requirements for OTC to take
over the running of the cemetery I find it hard to understand why we are even be asked
to make any decision to tender for the maintenance. It would also be good to know if
Oakham Town Council is to receive the income from the cemetery so that can be used
to offset the council additional costs.
Perhaps Oakham Town Council should cast a new vote as it recently did regarding it
re-location. The majority of the current membership did not vote to take over the
mess created by Rutland County Council.
