Oakham Castle Wall and Replanting Around Badger Sett
Some people have been wondering what are all the sticks planted on a section
of the castle wall which is marked out with Red and White tape. This is the
area of the wall that is home for the badgers and is not being disturbed
hundreds of shrubs have been planted to cover the area.
I met one of the site managers who loaned me a high visibility jacket and a green
hard hat and we went on a tour of the castle site.
The inside of the castle currently looks quite sad, all the horseshoes have been
carefully removed for cleaning and storage.
Archaeologist are busy working in one of the areas previously partially looked
at by Time Team. The Old boiler house has been demolished.
Part of the original wall have been uncovered, it is not yet known how much of
the wall will be completely revealed.
