Our annual concert at St. Peter’s Church will start with Wagner’s ‘grand’ overture to his first major opera, Rienzi. Those who know his mature operas & the music of the Ring Cycle will be surprised by the youthful energy of this overture!
The Sinfonia welcomes Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition Finalist Robert Markham as our soloist in Beethoven’s fourth Piano Concerto & the concert will conclude with Rachmaninov’s emotionally charged second symphony. The work is often seen as a close companion to his second piano concerto & is again full of the composer’s lavish romantic melodies.
