The Stamford Town Council Cancels Christmas Due To Weather and Health and Safety Fears

The Stamford Christmas Lights Festival has been cancelled due to expected bad weather.

The festival, would have seen the switch-on of the Town's Christmas lights.

Patricia Stuart-Mogg, town clerk for Stamford Town Council, told the Rutland Mercury: “Having monitored the Wittering meteorological forecasts hourly since 6am this morning and consulted with Health and Safety advisers and SKDC throughout this morning, it is the considered consensus that, most regrettably, in the interest of public safety, that the Stamford Christmas festival and the Christmas lights switch-on scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday 29 November, must be cancelled.”

People are asking if Oakham event is going ahead also set for tomorrow.

Our Clerk does not work long hours and Health and Safety and Risk Management What's That?

I have sent the Deputy Mayor Adam Lowe an email as he is the chief organiser I have asked him what the current situation is.

I expect his normal reply this is a private number and email if you send me any more messages
I will report you to the police for harassment. I am not that proud to be a Cllr on such a
"dysfunctional council". Pinching the words of one of our splendid functional new Cllrs.
