Uppingham Residents Not Pleased With Rutland County Councils Stasi"esque CCTV installations
I agree with the residents cameras are the ugliest Rutland County Council could have
purchased.
I am not looking forward to seeing how they are going to compliment the splendid architecture
of Uppingham. Cameras can be less visible and just as good as those appearing in Oakham and
Uppingham.
One of the RCC Cllrs involved in this project also seems to agree and now thinks it might
have been better to have installed a wired system which does not require such large poles.
A couple of online comments regarding Uppingham:
Simon ####: A mahoosive camera....almost "Stasi"esque in its stature, has been erected to look over Tods Piece.....they must be expecting some serious crime going down over this barren piece of Uppingham!! #bigbrother
Pete ####### its like Big Brother central with all the new spycams up in the town... Shame can't watch them on uppingham first site too like Market Place spycam. To be honest i thought we were only getting new cameras to replace old, not about 10 new ones scattered around... They're quite ugly to look at tbh...
