Appeal after fatal collision on the A1

Did you witness a fatal collision on the A1 in Rutland today (Saturday 12 December)?

The collision happened just after 2pm on the northbound carriageway, north of the Bloody Oaks services.

It involved a black Mercedes and a lorry and the driver of the car, a 52-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The lorry driver was not injured.

A stretch of the northbound carriageway of the A1 has been closed to enable officers to conduct their enquiries at the scene.

Did you see what happened? Did you see the manner in which either vehicle was being driven prior to the collision?

Man dies after a collision on the A1 in Stretton

Two vehicles were involved in a collision on the A1 during the early hours of this morning (Thursday 10 December) which resulted in one person sustaining fatal injuries.

The collision took place on the northbound carriageway of the A1 in the parish of Stretton in Rutland just before 1am and involved a HGV and a green. VW Polo.

The driver of the VW Polo sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured during the incident.

If you were travelling along the A1 during the early hours of this morning and witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle being driven beforehand then we’d like to speak to you.

Man who died in A6003 collision is named

A man who died after a collision on the A6003 on Wednesday 9 December has been named.

The collision was reported at 5.20am on the A6003 in Gunthorpe, Rutland and involved a white Vauxhall Corsa and a HGV.

The driver of the car, Warren Dale Carter, 24, formerly of Caldecote in Cambridgeshire but was now residing at Kendrew Barracks in Rutland, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four other men sustained serious injuries and they all remain in hospital. One of those injured men is critical but stable and the other three are stable.

The car was travelling from Uppingham towards Oakham when it was involved in a collision with the HGV. We would like to speak to anyone who was travelling along the A6003 during the early hours of this morning who may have witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle being driven beforehand.
