Election of John Kennedy Cost Oakham Taxpayers £3425.41 in Election Costs Oakham NW By-Election November 2015

Election of John Kennedy Cost Oakham Taxpayers £3425.41 in Election Costs Oakham NW By-Election November 2015

John Kennedy stood in the election although as he said he did not want to be a Councillor
he claimed in an email he was persuaded to stand to stop one of my cronies getting a seat
on the Council. I personally don't know any cronies.

At the same time Jim Harrison stood, a former Cllr and Mayor.

Jim received 95 votes and John received 148 and was elected.

He attended one meeting and resigned.

The total cost of each vote cast at the election was £14.10

I guess that is the cost we have to pay for democracy even when the old
guard of Oakham Town Council play their costly games.
