Oakham School Visitors From Stowe School and The Oratory School anger residents, Leicestershire Police Issue Fixed Penalty Tickets

Oakham School Visitors From Stowe School and The Oratory School anger residents, Leicestershire Police Issue Fixed Penalty Tickets

Once again visitors to Oakham School anger residents, this time Leicestershire Police take
action as Kilburn Road and nearby Roads and Pavements are obstructed.

I hope this means they will be issuing further tickets as parents of day pupils drive all over
our grass verges and pavements in many areas of Oakham.

The police missed the old private ambulances parked on the pavement in Station Road
avoiding the double yellow lines. Personally looking at the ambulances I hope they
would not be used to take children to hospital the middle one has it back end held together
with cable ties.

Hopefully in the future these visitors will use the town car parks or park correctly on the roads.

Many residents with dogs and pushchairs were pleased to see the bright yellow tickets.
Leicestershire Police don't issue many of these and the proof of this can be seen by
the tickets age they still say Leicestershire Constabulary. This mainly due to Rutland County
Council now being responsible for issuing tickets. They don't work Sunday's I wonder how
long that will last when they notice the possible income.

Oakham School Visitors Park as they please

Oakham School Visitors Park as they please

I have been contacted once again by a annoyed resident.

Oakham School visitors have no consideration for the town they visit,
they park on footpaths, grass verges in fact anywhere they can.

Oakham School visitors also appear not to be able to walk from
virtually empty free car parks a few hundred yards away.

Oakham School visitors also can't read, Road Closed means
you can't drive you car the way you may want to go.

I assume it won't be long before Oakham School creates
drive through sporting events for those who find it difficult to
get out of their smart cars and walk a short distance to an
event. Instead of parking all the way along a public footpath
as shown in the photographs sent to me by a resident.

The public footpaths of Kilburn Road are just that and are not
owned by Oakham School, they are used by many who walk to
work, live and dog walk in the area. But once again not today.

Fortunately no one walking in the road visiting the cemetery
has yet become a resident!

All these cars are parked on the footpath.

Oakham School Visitors Receive Fixed Penalty Tickets From Leicestershire Police

Oakham School Visitors Receive Fixed Penalty Tickets From Leicestershire Police

Just after lunch today I received a message from a resident. Once again visitors to
Oakham School were apparently showing little consideration to the residents who
use the roads and footpaths of Oakham.

Although I volunteer as a Oakham Town Councillor I am always happy to try
and help residents if I can. Am I meant to ignore them?

Neil
If you have time Martin you could witness the mayhem caused by the obstructive parking at oakham school playing field's . Kilburn End is basically blocked off to resident's at the moment . It's an absolute disgrace , i had to mount the kerb to stop a coach hitting me !

Neil
Thank's very much for your time Martin . You are a great asset to this town . Keep up the good work

I created a post using their photographs and as often happens this displeases a few
people locally.

I probably do have something better to do on a Sunday but like the Grainstore
I believe Councillors should be available 7 days a week if they can be.
And I can't afford to sit in there enjoying a Sunday drink.

I and residents are pleased Leicestershire Police have recognised many drivers
had broken the law today and issued a number of fixed penalty tickets.

I guess if this not happening on your doorstep, it must be hard to understand the
problem it causes residents.

Sally Burge Burgess Also has meant that coaches have used Kilburn end to drive up and turn around. The school children are no better using the road as pavement and not moving for vehicles.
