Conservative Melton Borough Council leader Byron Rhodes to step down

Conservative Melton Borough Council leader Byron Rhodes to step down

Unfortunately this is not a resignation from the Borough Council.
73 year old Cllr Rhodes is also the deputy leader of Leicestershire County Council and its cabinet member for finance.

Cllr Rhodes has said he will keep his seat at Melton Borough Council stating he is not
a person to walk away from anything.

I assume that is not walking away from his allowance he receives from Melton Borough
Council taxpayers while he to "devotes more time to his other role as the deputy leader of Leicestershire County Council and its cabinet member for finance."

I think most of the Rutland and Melton Tories are only in it to top up their pensions.

One former Tory at Rutland County Council I am told decided to stand as an independent
because although the allowance is low at that council it is more than any benefit they
could claim.
