Please could the council explain why it is not complying with this:
Not only is this a failing of the Clerk it is also a failing of the Council's
Policies and Procedure Working Group whoever they are?
Oakham Town Council has engaged an accountant to carry out the Clerks
work by completing the work he has not been able to complete.
The accountants are not conducting an audit so I fail to see how any
Oakham Town Councillor can confidentially accept the annual statement
of accounts know they audit requirements have not been met.

Performance
Internal Audit
The Council undergoes quarterly inspections from an appointed Internal Auditor. The reports from these inspections are then considered by the Council at the earliest opportunity and any recommendations contained in the reports are implemented. The inspections are based on an Audit Plan prepared by the Internal Auditor in consultation with members of the Council's Policies and Procedures Working Group.
