After the response or should I say lack of response I received from the council
at the last meeting I decided to question a little further.
I am now satisfied the council is paying a person to temp cash in hand albiet
via a cheque payment via the councils accounts.
Cllr Lowe said at the last meeting the council recognised they should not be employing
a self employed person and were writing something to the HMRC.
Cllr Michael Elliot said it would be the council that HMRC would come down on not
the person employed.
I find it astonishing that members of this council are willing to put this public body
at such a risk.
So I have submitted the following question:
Dear Allison
Please accept the following councillors question for the next meeting.
I have spoken to the self employed person, who we are unlawfully employing
they have told me they are not self employed or a registered company so please
can the council explain why it is not complying with the local government act
or HMRC laws which require us an employer to deduct basic rate tax and NI
from the persons pay cheque?
