Medieval Mondays Oakham Castle Oakham Rutland

Medieval Mondays
Oakham Castle
Oakham

Every Monday to 29 August

Vvisitors to the Castle can take part in Medieval skills workshops and drop-in activities, to get a flavour of what life was like in about 1180.

In the mornings there will be archery lessons from 10.30am-12pm for £25 per person, with tuition from John Steel of Red Fox Archery. Suited to older children and adults, the team will even be setting up Medieval targets to learn the skill as our ancestors would have been taught.

For those who are more inclined towards arts and crafts, the Castle is hosting tile making workshops from 10am to 11am where you can learn the craft using traditional patterns and techniques. It’s  suited for all the family but parental supervision is required at all times and costs £5 per person.
Then in the afternoon, drop-into the castle from 12.30pm – 3.30pm to take part in a range of activities, including Have-a-go-Archery for £2 per person and Medieval Banner Making
for £2.50 each.

There will also be stories, quizzes and dressing up on a daily basis to spark your imaginations and inspire you to learn more about Rutland’s famous horseshoes which adorn the walls of the Grade I listed Registered Ancient Monument.
