Rutland County Library Oakham is to undergo a £280k refurbishment Library Service to move to Museum.

Rutland County Library Oakham is to undergo a £280k refurbishment between December 2016 and Summer 2017 and will be closed to members of the public while the work takes place.

During this time, library services will move to Rutland County Museum but will return to normal as soon as the refurbishment is complete.

The Library will be closed from Thursday 15th December as work begins on site.

The museum-based library service will open a few days later on Wednesday 21st December.

All refurbishment work is due to be completed by Summer 2017, after which the service will move back into the Oakham Library building.

The following library services will be available at Rutland County Museum from 21st December 2016:

·         Public computers and online services
·         Free internet and Wi-Fi access
·         Book and DVD loans (reduced stock)
·         Latest magazines and newspapers (no back issues)
·         Reading groups
·         Requests, renewals and enquiries

Museum opening hours will increase from four to six days a week to accommodate the library and will be as follows:

Monday               9.30am – 5.00pm
Tuesday               9.30am – 5.00pm
Wednesday       9.30am – 5.00pm
Thursday             9.30am – 5.00pm
Friday                   9.30am – 5.00pm
Saturday              9.30am – 4.00pm
Sunday                 CLOSED

The Museum itself will continue to operate as normal, however there will be no special exhibitions until the library service has moved back to its permanent home.

Work to the library will include improvements to the lighting, flooring, ceiling, electrics and roofing and will provide service users with a much improved library facility.
