Saturday 1st April 2017 marks the 20th anniversary of Rutland regaining its status as an independent county and the formation of Rutland County Council as a unitary authority. Rutland was a district of Leicestershire from 1974 until 1997, regaining its independent status only after a long-running campaign by local councillors, residents and communities.
Rutland’s 20th Anniversary Celebrations will begin with a children’s fun run at Rutland Showground, raising money for local charity For Rutland, who provide non-medical support to help people living with a long-term condition in Rutland and the surrounding community.
Run for Rutland
A run for all local primary and secondary schools as part of the celebrations of Rutland’s 20 years of independence.
Medals and certificates for all runners! Breakfast and refreshments available from Northfield Farm.
1 April 2017, at 9am, at the Rutland Show Ground, Oakham
