Christian Aid Week

Alive coincides with Christian Aid week. Christian Aid supports refugees in conflicts
around the world. All the Alive events will offer the opportunity to make a contribution
to Christian Aid’s work.

Friday 12 May

Opening

10.00am Uppingham Market Place
Join the team in the market place and you can find out about all events coming up.
Panto - Snow White and the 7 elves*

6.30pm Uppingham Parish Church
A family entertainment for all. Fun, slapstick, songs and much more.


Saturday 13 May
Alive Publicity
9.00am Uppingham Market Place
Visit the Alive gazebo which will be promoting the event and selling tickets.
Film - Pete’s Dragon

2.30pm Uppingham Methodist Church
Saturday afternoon at the movies with a Disney classic. Fun for all the family


Sunday 14 May
Coming Alive Service

All are welcome as the churches of Uppingham and Belton join together to start the week of events and meetings.

Songs of Praise

Join in singing some favourite hymns and songs, chosen by our friends, and hear them tell the life stories that have
inspired their choices.

Gold star member of the Inner Magic Circle, Steve’s been entertaining family audiences for 15 years. Limited ticket

Monday 15 May
Open the Book
3.00pm Leighfield School
Open the Book involves children dressing up and acting out Bible stories. A church team has been working with
Leighfield for 3 years. The school is inviting parents to come along to see what the children can achieve.

Breadmaking for Boys (of all ages)**
7.00pm Parish Hall
This practical, fun, messy session will give you all the ingredients to make your first loaf of bread. You’ll also learn
some great tips and tricks to impress everyone in the family. Free but limited capacity.

Where is God in suffering?**
7.00pm Falcon Hotel
The Rotary club invite people to join them for a 2 course buffet meal after a talk called "Where is God in our suffering
world?" Tickets £12.

Tuesday 16 May
Mothers’ Union Invitation Service
10.00am Uppingham Parish Church
Everyone’s welcome to join members of MU from Uppingham, Oakham and Ketton.  MU is a worldwide organisation
supporting Christian family life. A light lunch is offered after the service.

Coffee Morning

 Alive is joining with Age UK for this morning event. Come and join us for tea / coffee and homemade cake

Pub Quiz
8.00pm Crown Hotel, High St East Uppingham
Traditional pub quiz with wide ranging questions. Super prize and good company guaranteed. Teams of 4 please,
but if you haven’t got a team we will put you with others to make one.

Thursday 18 May
Open The Book
10.30am Uppingham CofE Primary School
Open the Book started this year in our church school.  The children grow in confidence as they act out Bible stories.
The school is inviting parents.

Alive Questions Evening*
7.00pm Falcon Hotel
Living and dying with cancer, is God even interested? Dr Richard Scott explores this controversial question. Wine -
dessert or cheese board - coffee. Tickets £7.50

Pub Quiz
8.00pm Sun Inn, Belton
Come along and have a fun evening at a traditional pub quiz, with rounds on general knowledge, current affairs etc.,
Teams of 3-4 can be made up on the night, so do just come along.

Alive does not end here.  We will be giving out information about follow up events.

Drop in for a coffee and a chat.

Uppingham Children’s Choir
7.00pm Uppingham Parish Church
Come and listen to this amazing prize winning children’s choir from the local area. Art work from a children’s
competition will be on display and prizes will be awarded.

Men’s Breakfast**
8.00am Uppingham Methodist Church
The Bishop of Peterborough joins us to enjoy a full English and some sparkling conversation. A great way to start the
weekend. A donation of at least £5 towards food would be welcomed.

History of Belton Church
3.00pm Belton Church
Come along and enjoy some tea and cake in St Peter’s Church, which dates from around 1190! There’ll be a treasure
hunt for children, with prizes.

Wholeness & Healing Service
5.00pm Uppingham Methodist Church
A reflective service with the opportunity to receive prayer for yourself and others and our world

Sunday 21 May
Thanksgiving Service
11.00am Tod’s Piece, Uppingham
As this part of the Alive ends, come and join us for a service of celebration. Please stay and share lunch with us.
