2016 Ferrier Award winner, JAMES NEWBY baritone, and American pianist DYLAN PEREZ are performing Schubert’s much-loved song-cycle Die Schöne Müllerin at
St Martin’s Church Stamford on Saturday 16th September 2017 at 7.30pm. Tickets (£12 with concessions) are available in advance from Stamford Arts Centre 01780 763203, or on the door. The concert is kindly sponsored by Marilyn & Frank Mills.

James has sung at Stamford Endowed Schools in the past under the baton of Giles Turner. We are delighted to welcome him back to Stamford now.

Following his success with the 2016 Kathleen Ferrier Award, James was the recipient of the Wigmore Hall/Independent Opera Voice Fellowship. In 2015 he was awarded the Richard Tauber Prize (for best interpretation of a Schubert Lied) and overall Third Prize at the Wigmore Hall/Kohn International Song Competition. In 2017 he was awarded the Trinity Gold Medal by the board of Trinity Laban Conservatoire and became a Samling Artist.

As well as performing with many concert and choral societies throughout the UK, James now enjoys a busy schedule as a recitalist; recent and future highlights include appearances at Leeds Lieder Festival with Joseph Middleton, and a solo recital at the Wigmore Hall. He also recently sang in the Perth International Arts Festival, Australia, including a performance of Schubert's Die Schöne Müllerin.

James made his BBC Proms debut in 2016 singing in Vaughan Williams Serenade to Music conducted by Sakari Oramo. He is a Jerwood Young Artist at Glyndebourne Festival Opera appearing in La Traviata, Hamlet, La Clemenza di Tito and the role of the notary in Don Pasquale during the 2017 Festival.

American pianist DYLAN PEREZ is a highly sought after recitalist, chamber musician and coach specialising in vocal repertoire. He graduated in 2016 with Distinction from the Artist Masters programme at the Guildhall School where he studied with Pamela Lidiard and Julius Drake. Recently, he was awarded the Gerald Moore Award and the Paul Hamburger Prize for Accompaniment. He was a semi-finalist in the 2017 Das Lied International Competition, with duo partner Iúnó Connolly. He has twice been a finalist in the Kathleen Ferrier awards.

Prior to relocating to London, Dylan studied at the University of Michigan with Louis Nagel and Martin Katz. He was a participant in The Song Continues masterclass series at Carnegie Hall with Marilyn Horne, Jessye Norman and Dalton Baldwin, and was subsequently invited to be a pianist for their residency in Paris. Dylan has also played in masterclasses with Renee Fleming, Joyce DiDonato, Dame Felicity Lott, and with Roger Vignoles, Christian Gerhaher and Brigitte Fassbaender at Wigmore Hall.
