Christmas Lights Switch On
The most wonderful time of year kicks off on Thursday 23 November with Leicester’s Christmas Lights Switch-on.
The event will once again be on Humberstone Gate West, offering a fantastic programme of stage entertainment from 5pm – 8pm, with live music including The Paradimes closing the show.
Visit Leicester Information Centre on Gallowtree Gate, where you can meet the stars of De Montfort Hall’s Beauty and the Beast – pick up a goodie bag from 4pm and meet the cast from 5pm – 6pm. Marvel at seasonal street artists around the city centre and don’t miss the lights being switched on at 6.30pm with the Lord Mayor, Santa Claus and the cast of Curve show, George’s Marvellous Medicine.
Fairy-tale lovers will love this year’s Christmas tableau in Town Hall Square – the White Witch, Aslan and the land of mythical creatures will be brought to life in this Narnia themed display. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled in the city centre and you might spot the characters from the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe! The traditional nativity scene will also be set up, along with Christmas carols and a brass band performance to put you in the festive mood.
