Lions Club of Rutland - Donate a Festive Treat Tesco or Co-op Oakham and Co-op Uppingham

Lions Club of Rutland - Donate a Festive Treat

Saturday, November 25th

After another very successful Oakham Town fireworks display, Rutland Lions are gearing up this weekend for their next community project, the annual Christmas Parcel collection, or Donate a Festive Treat.

On Saturday, 25th November (9.30am until 5.30pm), Rutland Lions will be outside Tesco Saturday, the Burley Road Co-op in Oakham (Saturday), and the Co-op in Uppingham (Saturday), inviting shoppers to donate a ‘festive treat’ for local people, often elderly, who may not otherwise receive one.

Items such as small Christmas cakes, mince pies, tins of fruit and seasonal boxes of biscuits are particularly welcome from shoppers. These donations are then made up into some 200-250 individual ‘goodie bags’ for needy individuals across our county. Additional items are directed towards various Rutland care organisations, ensuring we give much needed ‘Christmas cheer’ to as many deserving people as possible.

So ... if you are shopping in one of these supermarkets this weekend, please do pop a treat into one of the Lions trolleys near the entrance. It could make someone’s ‘Christmas’ day!
