Poppies On Lamp Posts Oakham Rutland
Thanks to Oakham Town Council
It was difficult to get this on the agenda. The Clerk had ignored a letter sent
to all Clerks a resident contacted me and the Clerk and Chairman Cllr Michael
Haley would not let me put this on the agenda.
Fortunately the subject was something Cllr Adam Lowe supported and he
ensured the item came to council and it was approved.
I was surprised Cllr Joyce Lucas showed little interest, then I was told it
was because the money paid was going to the Leicestershire and Rutland
British Legion Branch and not the Oakham Branch
Cllr Lowe kindly put up the poppies and will take them down, the clerk and
chairman were proposing we paid a contractor considerable more than
the cost of the poppies.
All the poppies cost £45
Please don't forget to buy your poppy from a person selling in the street or
from a shop.
