Oakham Town Council Policy and Procedure Working Group May 2018
The new working group met last night.
The group will attempt to find out what policies Oakham Town Council should be adopting.
For the next full council meeting in June it will be proposed that the council adopt the following
first.
The current code of conduct and NALCS current model standing orders.
mainly due to the meddling of the Councils current standing orders which are not enforceforable
and often prevent fair debate of matter put before council for consideration.
The Financial groups tasks overlaps with tasks which fall within policy and procedures.
The group will attempt to ensure all parts annual return is presented to council in June so that we don't get a repeat of last years failing, described in writing by the external auditor Grant Thornton
as a significant failure of governance.due to page one being incorrectly filled in by the Clerk., something which the council appeared not to be concerned about.
