The prize-winning flautist DANIEL SHAO, accompanied by Joseph Havlat piano, will be giving a recital at St Martin’s Church Stamford on Saturday 22nd September at 7.30.

Daniel was a wind finalist for BBC Young Musician 2014 – one of many successes including 1st prize in the British Flute Society Competition.

Born in 1995, Daniel graduated from Oxford University with a First in Music and more recently graduated with distinction from his Master’s at the Royal Academy of Music, where he was supported by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust.

He is a passionate orchestral musician, being a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra, having appeared as principal flute with the Britten Pears Orchestra under Marin Alsop, and was formerly co-principal of the National Youth Orchestra.

He has played concertos with orchestras including the Janus Ensemble , Oxford Philharmonic, Amadeus Orchestra, and Kingston Chamber Orchestra, and has performed solo recitals at venues including Wigmore Hall and Cadogan Hall.
