Misconduct outcome for former Police Constable David McCartney
A former officer was the subject of a special case hearing on Thursday 7 May.
Former Police Constable David McCartney faced an allegation that during a specified period of time in 2019 he breached the standards of professional behaviour namely authority, respect and courtesy; honesty and integrity; duties and responsibilities and discreditable conduct.
It was alleged the officer developed an inappropriate relationship with a woman with whom he had dealings with in his capacity as a police officer, or otherwise failed to maintain a professional boundary in respect of his dealings with her.
The allegations were upheld at the hearing, and it was deemed that if former PC McCartney was a serving officer he would have been dismissed without notice.
