Oakham Town Council displayed last week displayed a notice so residents can call an election for one of the vacant seats.
I am wondering why they are ignoring the governments decision to suspend all local elections for a year. The notices are prepared by Rutland County Council on behalf of the returning officer.
I have written to the monitoring officer at Rutland County Councils monitoring officer to ask if the government has lifted the suspension and how residents can obtain the 10 signatures from electors during this time of social distancing.
I am told Oakham Town Council is hoping that this would go unnoticed so they can co-opt there approved candidates. I personally think that all three vacancies should been re advertised after the year suspension and the council should be forced to advertise the vacancies and give the public more information about the election process.Better still we should have an election for all the seats and get rid of the people all those who have done nothing for the town this year.
The Town Council held one online meeting since lock down and failed to publish the access details for residents a legal requirement.
Better still after speaking to Cllr Joy Clough I found she did not receive summons to attend as was not even aware the council had held a meeting. I would question what the clerk is doing. The answers is obvious the dishonest clerk does not like her and treats her in the same way she did me.
