PC Joe Lloyd tweeted
in the nearly 19 hrs I’ve been in the job I’ve never been so scarred.
Thankfully my colleagues came when they did. Joe
Shocking what is happening in Oakham I remember years ago Joe told me he did not need to draw his baton when dealing with people, now its batons, capture spray and tasers here in Oakham.
At least Joe is not injured he is a good officer based here in Oakham.

I will only say that in the nearly 19 hrs I’ve been in the job I’ve never been so scarred. Thankfully my colleagues came when they did. Joe— Oakham Police (@OakhamPolice) August 17, 2020
Update:
man chased a Leicestershire Police officer in Oakham town centre with an axe.
It is reported the Police officer cuddled the 'distressed' man who had chased after them with an axe
last night after 8.00pm.
Leicestershire Police were called shortly before 8pm last night by a member of the public "concerned for the welfare of a man in Alwyn Close, Oakham."
"The man was in possession of an axe and threatened an officer before chasing him to High Street where he was detained.
"The man, 38, was arrested on suspicion of assault and the 38 year old remains in police custody."
The statement added: "No one was injured during the incident."
It is reported the the man is a forces veteran.

Police last month attended to a man who brandished a sword in public, who was also described
as having mental health issues.
Last week armed police attended a property in Oakham after a person was shot with a air gun.
I am pleased the officer involved was not harmed, no wonder he was scared as he tweeted
a man chasing you with a axe through the town is not something you expect here in Oakham.
