Misconduct Hearing outcome of former Leicestershire police constable James Ford


Particulars of misconduct:

On 9th May 2020, your off-duty conduct breached the standards of professional behaviour in
that you drove a motor vehicle on a public highway whilst the proportion of alcohol in your
breath exceeded the limit prescribed in accordance with the provisions of s.5(1)(a) Road Traffic
Act 1988, namely 102 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The conduct, if proved, amounts to gross misconduct for the following reasons:

a. The conduct amounts to the commission of a criminal offence

b. The conduct causes serious discredit to the reputation of Leicestershire Police and
damages public confidence in policing.

The following standards of professional behaviour are engaged;
