Oakham Rutland Lockdown II Day 2
Enjoying the autumn sun whilst out exercising, I have noticed one big difference between this lock down and the first, so far there appears to be no difference in the number of cars on the road. It does not feel as if anything has changed apart from a few none essential shops have been forced to close.
The library is closed but the book shop, card shop and chocolate shop remains open.
Garden Centres have remained open and one shares on Facebook how it has moved most of it not essential stock from the cafe building into the garden centre shop, so they can sell it. Much to the annoyance of some small businesses who have toyed with the idea of opening up and bringing in some fruit and veg to sell in their shops.
As part of my lock down II exercise I took a walk to McDonalds Oakham and enjoyed my first Chocolate milkshake and Fries for lunch. I did a bit of litter spotting on the way and only saw one place with McDonalds litter it was outnumbered by the normal disgusting face masks, beer, cider and other soft drinks cans. I also notice the council has installed some of there favourite ugly litter bins in the area. I peaked in and I saw McDonalds so not as bad as the McDonald's haters were were predicting. The Restaurant is open for take away only, I am not sure why the Facebook Page said it is closed that might explain why it is was quiet. I found the service very good, it is also good to see all the young people who have new jobs.
It is sad to see a number of Oakham's small businesses have now closed permantely, I suspect there will be more to follow.
