Covid Vaccination Programme Rutland Update 7 January 2021

The national plans for vaccination change frequently. This is the best information that we have at the moment but may be altered.

The Covid Vaccination Programme started in Rutland on 21stDecember 2020. This did not include everyone over 80 because we did not have enough vaccine in our first delivery. Vaccine delivery remains erratic and unpredictable and we have an extremely short time frame to book appointments.

Most of the people who have been vaccinated were over 85 and their partners. We also vaccinated some care home staff and frontline health workers.

Our next vaccine deliveries will be in January. We will be telephoning patients over 80 from January 4th onwards to book these appointments once we know when to expect the vaccine. We will be calling again those patients who missed our calls when we were booking the first group. We are expecting to have offered the vaccine to everyone over 80 who can come to the vaccination centre by the end of January 2021.We will be using the Pfizer BioNtech vaccine. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/.../Information...

We are starting our care home vaccination programme today.

2nd Dose

Regrettably, we have to cancel the 2ndvaccination appointment that was booked w/c 11th January 2021 for people who attended our first clinic. Our delivery of vaccine has been cancelled and we have no choice in this .This decision has been made by NHS England so that more people can be protected by receiving their first dose. Second doses will now be rescheduled for 12 weeks after the first. Patients who are affected will receive a letter (Appendix1). We do not have enough information about vaccine delivery to book those appointments at the moment, but we will contact you.

Our clinical IT system has searches built in which will identify a list of patients in each cohort when it is their turn to be vaccinated.

Do not contact your practice – we will contact you.

All vaccinations will be given only by prior appointment – no walk in.

The Rutland Primary Care Network www.rutlandhealth.co.uk will have frequent updates and frequently asked questions about the Rutland Covid Vaccination Programme. Do not contact your surgery as they will be unable to help you with your COVID Vaccination enquiries.
