Annual County Service for Rutland 2021 Video Normally Held at Peterborough Cathedral

A County Service for Rutland 2021

Rutland's High Sheriff Richard Cole introduces this unique County Service.

Normally at this time of the year people from Rutland would travel to Peterborough Cathedral for the annual Rutland Service.

Richard says, we still have a lot to celebrate mainly those who have come together in the community as we fight Covid. He suggest we can all look forward to better times ahead.

Canon Rachel Watts Chaplain to the High Sheriff says something in the parish church of Uppingham. She also recognises it has been a tough year and Covid- 19 has changed our lives in lots of ways.

Dr Sarah Furness The Lord Lieutenant of Rutland then speaks from Whissendine Church, She thanked Richard for his work over the last year. She then talks about the beauty of Rutland and how it is described as one of the happiest counties to live in.

This followed by some music from Peterborough Cathedral 'Abide with me' whilst a slide show of past Rutland events is shown.

The Chairman of Rutland County Council Edward Baines gives a reading from Brooke Church Grave Yard.

Alicia Kearns our MP explains how wonderful our county is.

Dr Hilary Fox is then filmed speaking about the NHS and Covid-19 outside the Vaccination Centre here in Oakham at the former Rutland County Council chamber, certainly in my opinion a much better use of the building. Dr Hilary is the Clinical Director of Rutland Health, Primary Care Network.

The Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation speak via zoom. Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation are a charity who helps local individuals and companies to give money, in a tax efficient way, directly to local needs.

Carrie Trutz then sings while John Wardle plays the organ, I vow to thee my country. Some may remember her doing a bit for the Prom in the park events many years ago. Some more slides of Rutland are shown the swans are very nice.

The RT Rev Donald Allister Bishop of Peterborough, very religious part, the wonders of YouTube meant I could fast forward to the Blessing for Rutland. That's about 24 minutes in for those other none religious viewers.

Then Canon Rachel Watts led prayers along with Mephee O'leary, Bradie Smith and Chad Young, The High Sheriffs Police Cadets I liked that our pets were not forgotten in Chad's prayer. Dr Leon Roberts, Medical Director of East Midlands Ambulance Service said a prayer.

Dr Sarah Furness The Lord Lieutenant of Rutland read the Rutland Prayer, then it was the turn of the High Sheriff.

The Very Revd Chris Dallison prayed for blessings from the inside of Peterborough Cathedral where he is the Dean.

A recording of the National Anthem is played showing a very annoying animated flag.

Harriet Bryon then sang We wish you well. she sang well the noise in the background was dreadful especially using headphones to listen, some more nice slides of Rutland were shown, all the images were Richard Adams.
