Oakham Town Council Looking to Co-opt a new member.
Because none of those who moan about the council and it many failing did not call an election they can now co-opt.
I must say the government due to covid made it easy for County Council elections to go ahead and forgot parish councils. Residents were during restrictive times still required to get a letter to the returning officer with 10 signatures calling an election.
Oddly you have had only needed to get two even before covid to call a county council election. A prospective candidate needed 10 electors to support the candidate's nomination. That was temporally reduce to 2 the same number normally needed for a parish council nomination. I am no sure why the two are different and almost seem reversed.
I noticed on social media there was some confusion about how far a parish/town councillor can live from the parish. So here are the rules for election to a parish council the same applies for co-option onto the council.
