Cllr Lowe Oakham Town Councillor "I'm not allowed to discuss the details, but I can say that during the course of public life you speak to people and have discussions and occasionally you say things that may be offensive.

Oakham Town Councillor Adam Lowe who was found to have breached the code of conduct, when he visited the Mayors Home and asked questions and made comments that were considered offensive and homophobic. He then threatened Cllr Zoe Nealson when she made a complaint to Rutland County Councils Conduct Committee.

Cllr Lowe Oakham Town Councillor has been contacted by the Leicester Mercury and he said  "I'm not allowed to discuss the details, but I can say that during the course of public life you speak to people and have discussions and occasionally you say things that may be offensive.

"It was not intended to be rude or disrespectful but it was misinterpreted. I was fully prepared to apologise. Instead they farmed the whole thing out to an outside solicitor, costing taxpayers about £2,000, when the county council staff could have handled it.

"It's all embarrassing and I'm disappointed with how it's been handled by Rutland County Council. I should have been given the chance to just apologise."

He said he had resigned from several committees after the incident and would now also have to stay off the planning committee at Oakham Town Council for the next six months.

He said: "It's been a difficult few months. But the outcome is what it is."

Yesterday the Mayor told me she has felt very intimidated by Cllr Lowes conduct.

I wonder why Cllr Adam Lowe feels it is acceptable to threaten people especially woman as it was in the case.
