Grant Shapps MP for Welwyn Hatfield (since 2005), expresses his support for Rutland and Melton Local Awards Scheme, set up by Alicia Kearns  MP for Rutland and Melton (since the 2019 general election),  on Small Business Saturday 2022, he also wishes everyone in Rutland and Melton, a Very Merry Christmas.

In October 2022, Alicia Kearns was elected Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee.

Grant Shapps is Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy since October 2022. 

He previously served as Secretary of State for Transport in the Boris Johnson government from 2019 to 2022 and Home Secretary during the final six days of the Truss premiership in October 2022

This competition seeks not just to celebrate, but to help raise the profile of our local independent shops as we all go about our Christmas shopping. 

Nominations will close on 12th December before final voting opens until 27th January and the winners are announced in February 2023.
