Oakham Town Council Finance Committee Meeting Friday, 16th December 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
No reports or supporting documents published. Just as bad as main council meetings, currently the council is failing once again to comply with the laws that requires them to publish expenditure and accounts before meetings. This is the reason the Chairman abstained at the last council meeting. It would be better if she had voted against and explained why. Of course if she did she would be accused of bullying the Clerk. I never understand why Oakham Town Council label anyone who asks the Clerk do to do what they are legally required a bully.
The Clerk and assistant are paid very well from the public purse, the town council provides no public services and yet they feel the need to employ a full-time Clerk and a part-time assistant.
The clerk appears not to be able to publish required documents. (The Chairman has asked me to point out the assistant clerk has no control over what the Clerk publishes or not.)
They give the council members incorrect figures to approve. Set fictional budgets. Fail to answer external auditors questions and thick member accept all this and ignore the auditor findings. I assuming they don't care or are scared of being labelled a bully.
The council also rent a large office in Long Row which is costing more than the old location at Victoria Hall to run.
