UPP Broadband Builds on former Quaker Burial Ground owned by Rutland County Council

It is rumoured UPP may have given a donation to the former land owners. This is just a rumour the previous land owners did not receive or ask for any donation.

This month the Mayor of Oakham unveiled a plastic plaque dated November 2022 which gives the impression the land belongs to Oakham Town Council, even including the town councils website address. It is not the case and the land is owned by Rutland County Council and UPP are paying the council an agreed rent.

The Mayor Sally-Anne Wadsworth has said she will ask UPP to replace the plaque.

I am sure UPP could afford a much better plaque. The plastic one is cheap and naff and could easily be broken.

The building is a ugly addition to the street. I wonder why they chose not to match the surrounding bricks?
