Barnsdale Hall, built in 1890 for the Fitzwilliam family. The architect was E J May, who had been involved in designing Bedford Park, England’s first garden suburb, in 1875. He adopted a neo-Tudor design ‘with a canted two-storey bay and tiled roofs’
