Misconduct hearing for former PC Hugh Turton

A former Leicestershire police constable will appear before an accelerated misconduct hearing this month.

It is alleged that between 6 and 24 December 2022, the off-duty conduct of former Police Constable Hugh Turton breached the standards of professional behaviour namely authority, respect, and courtesy; confidentiality; orders and instructions and discreditable conduct.

It is alleged that while out socialising in Leicester city centre with colleagues on 6 December 2022, former PC Turton was verbally abusive towards another officer. It is alleged that former PC Turton then punched a window of a premises causing damage to the window.

During the morning of 7 December, it is also alleged that former PC Turton logged onto his police laptop while off duty and accessed a policing system when there was no policing purpose for this access.

On 23 December 2022, former PC Turton agreed to receive a conditional caution in respect of the damage to the window provided he paid for its repair.
