Oakham Cares: Can You Give Five or Ten Minutes of Your Time Each Month?

Oakham is a beautiful town in Rutland, but it could be even better. There are a few things that could be improved, such as litter, weeds, and dirty signage.

A campaign called Oakham Cares has been launched to address these issues. The goal of the campaign is to get everyone in Oakham to commit to spending five or ten minutes each month cleaning up their community.

"We don't need a committee, we don't need a press officer, we don't need money, just five minutes of time," said the campaign organizer. "Imagine how smart our town could be if everyone did one little five minute job once a month."

There are a few things that residents can do to help out. They can pick up litter, weed paths, or report damaged signage and other issues to Rutland County Council, using their website or fix my street.

They can also join the Oakham in Bloom group, which organises community gardening projects.

The Oakham Cares campaign has a Facebook page and group where residents can post before and after photos of their work. The page is a great way to see the progress that is being made and to get inspired to get involved.

If you care about Oakham, I encourage you to take five or ten minutes each month to help make it a better place. It's a small commitment that can make a big difference.

Here are some specific things that you can do to help out:

Pick up litter in your neighbourhood.

Weed the flower beds in your community.

Report damaged signage or other larger issues to Rutland County Council.

Join the Oakham in Bloom group.
