Wymondham, Leicestershire: Tensions flared today at the Cottesmore Hunt Meet in Wymondham, Leicestershire, as Northants Hunt Saboteurs clashed with masked security personnel hired by the hunt. According to reports, police arrived in force and made arrests after the situation escalated.

The incident comes amidst ongoing controversy surrounding the Cottesmore Hunt, which has seen masked security staff deployed at their meets this year. Videos circulating online reportedly show these individuals threatening violence and using offensive language towards the saboteurs.

The Northants Hunt Saboteurs have voiced their concerns about the lack of action taken by Leicestershire Police in response to these incidents. While the police did issue a section 59 order against a vehicle belonging to the Cottesmore Hunt, many argue it's not enough to address the wider issue of alleged intimidation and threats.

This weekend the  vehicle was impounded by the police after the driver was arrested for being under the influence of drugs whilst driving. Drugs were also found inside the vehicle.

The Daily Mirror recently published an exclusive report titled "Inside the violent reality of fox hunting as saboteurs risk their lives to stop the blood sport," highlighting their first-hand experience witnessing the alleged violence and abuse directed at the saboteurs by the Cottesmore Hunt.

Both the Cottesmore Hunt and the Countryside Alliance, which supports fox hunting, have reportedly declined to comment on the situation when contacted by the Daily Mirror.

It remains to be seen how this latest incident will further fuel the debate surrounding fox hunting in the UK, with both sides holding strong and often opposing views on the practice.
