Local MP Delivers Good News and Continues Fighting for Rutland

Local MP (Member of Parliament) Alicia Kearns has positive news for Rutland. Uppingham Community College and Langham CE Primary School will receive funding for much-needed improvements to their buildings. This follows the previously announced investment in Great Casterton College, showcasing a commitment to enhancing educational facilities across the county.

Rutland County Council has secured government funding to support cycling and walking routes. This initiative, focused on the Oakham Road and Burley Road, aims to encourage residents to embrace sustainable travel options.

Her fight against the proposed Mallard Pass Solar Plant continues. The MP presented a petition with over 3,414 signatures to the House of Commons, highlighting some community opposition to the project. A final decision on the plan is expected by May 16th.

The MP recently participated in the opening of For Rutland's Good and New Clothes Sale, a successful event that raised funds for advisors employed at Citizens Advice Rutland. Additionally, a meeting with Living Without Abuse solidified the MP's commitment to eliminating domestic and sexual violence in the region.

English Tourism Week saw the launch of Greater Lincolnshire and Rutland's Local Visitor Economy (LVEP) initiative. This plan aims to position Rutland as a premier tourist destination within the UK.
