Rutland Gets Moving: New Transport Initiative Unveiled!
Rutland and Melton! As part of their joint Levelling Up programme, plans for a brand new transport initiative have been announced.
Central Hub and Improved Routes:
A central hub will be established at the former Pinewood House (Jules House youth centre) site, located near Oakham Memorial Hospital.
A new network of bus routes will be introduced, offering fixed line and on-demand options.
A fleet of three electric minibuses will serve local journeys, enhancing mobility residents across both counties.
Improved connectivity between Oakham town centre and surrounding areas.
Transforming Pinewood House (Jules House):
Rutland County Council say, the historic Pinewood House, (Jules House) will be revitalised to house the new transport initiative.
The site will be redesigned to accommodate minibus parking and turning areas.
A building, completely out of character will be stuck to the side of Pinewood, 1 Cold Overton Road,
An accessible path linking the hospital with the town centre will be built through the grounds. This will of course be reopening a footpath closed when Rutland County Council spent a lot of money turning Pinewood into Jules to never be used for the youth provision it had previously paid for.
The council say the house itself will receive a full refurbishment, including the ugly extension and creative landscaping.
The first floor of the House will be available for office space rentals, ensuring the project's financial sustainability.
