Oakham Town Council Holds Annual General Meeting

 

The Oakham Town Council held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, May 8th, 2024. Here's a summary of the key events:

Councillor Adam Lowe was elected as the new Chairman and will also serve as Mayor.

Chris Nix was re-elected for a second term as Vice Chairman.

A Rutland County Councillor addressed the meeting, highlighting the importance of repairing the connection between the Town Council and the County Council.

Standing committees for Recreation & Planning, Staffing, and Finance were appointed.

Working groups for Economic Strategy, Promotions, Policies & Procedures, Oakham Skate Park, and Environmental issues were established.

Councillors were assigned roles as representatives to various organisations like Citizens Advice, the Memorial Institute, and the Parish Council Forum.

A calendar of meetings for the 2024-2025 year was approved.

The Chairman's allowance for the coming year was set at £2,000.

The Council reviewed bank statements for April 2024 and the Internal Audit Report.

Councillors agreed to accept a statue of Queen Elizabeth II as a gift to the town, if offered, with no additional insurance costs.
