A Viking in Oakham?
Oakham, a quiet town nestled in the heart of Rutland, is perhaps not the place one would expect to encounter a Viking. Yet, that's precisely what has happened. The Viking Way, a 147-mile long-distance walking trail that concludes its epic journey just outside the Rutland County Library, has somehow summoned a spectral visitor from the past.
The route, named in homage to the Norse invaders who once dominated this region, has always held a touch of the mysterious.
