Rutland Mourns the Loss of Cllr Hannah Edwards
Rutland County Council paid tribute to the late Cllr Hannah Edwards, a Liberal Democrat councillor who tragically passed away earlier this month.
At it's council meeting held on 26th September 2024.
Leading the tributes, Cllr Waller leader of the Liberal Democrats and leader of Rutland County Council expressed their deep sorrow and heartfelt condolences to Hannah's family and friends. They highlighted her dedication to public service and her passion for making a positive impact on the Rutland community.
Cllr Powell, representing the Independent Group, echoed the sentiments of the council leaders, emphasising Hannah's commitment to her constituents and her ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the political spectrum
Cllr Lucy Stephenson, speaking on behalf of the Conservative Group, praised Hannah's intelligence, enthusiasm, and her potential to become a strong voice for Rutland. She expressed her regret at the untimely loss of such a promising young councillor.
Cllr Ross, representing the Labour Party members, offered his condolences to Hannah's family and friends. He acknowledged her dedication to her community and her willingness to engage in constructive dialogue.
Cllr Chatfield, Hannah's fellow ward member, concluded the tributes with a personal and moving eulogy. He spoke of Hannah's kindness, compassion, and her unwavering commitment to serving the people of Rutland. He expressed his deep sorrow at her passing and the profound impact it would have on the community.
Hannah Edwards was newly elected to Rutland County Council in May 2023 and had quickly established herself as a respected and valued member of the council. Her untimely death is a significant loss for the community, and she will be sorely missed by many.
