Oakham Town Council has secured a new energy supply contract with TotalEnergies Gas & Power, which will ensure that the public toilets in Church Street and Cutts Close Park are powered entirely by renewable energy.

The new contract, which begins on January 1, 2025, will see the council's electricity supply sourced from 100% renewable sources. This move aligns with the council's commitment to sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint.

Mark Rose, Director of Sales & Marketing at TotalEnergies Gas & Power, said: "We are delighted to be working with Oakham Town Council to provide them with 100% renewable electricity. This is a significant step towards a more sustainable future for the town."

Councillor Paul Ainsley, Mayor and Chairman , said: "We are committed to making Oakham a greener town, and this new energy supply contract is a major step forward. We hope that this will inspire other businesses and organisations in the town to follow suit."

The council encourages residents and businesses to consider switching to renewable energy suppliers and to take steps to reduce their carbon footprint.
