Motorcyclist Dies Following Single-Vehicle Collision in Oakham - Police Appeal for Witnesses

Oakham, Rutland, England - March 23, 2025 - Leicestershire Police are appealing to the public for information following a fatal single-vehicle collision involving a motorcyclist in Oakham. The incident occurred on the A6003 Stamford Road at the roundabout with Burley Park Way on Thursday, March 20th, shortly before 6:00 PM.
sadly, the rider of a black Triumph motorcycle, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the collision.
Detective Constable Adam Bancroft, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), is leading the investigation and has expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased. He also extended the family's gratitude to members of the public who stopped to provide first aid at the scene.
"First and foremost the family of the motorcyclist would like to express their thanks to those members of the public who stopped at the scene to provide first aid," said DC Bancroft.
As part of their ongoing investigation, detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or may have captured relevant footage on a dashcam to come forward. They are particularly interested in any information regarding the motorcycle and its rider in the time leading up to the incident.
"Officers spoke to some people at the scene but we’re keen to speak to anyone who might have captured the incident, or the motorcycle beforehand, on a dashcam," DC Bancroft added. "Anything you’re able to tell us or any footage you’re able to provide could help our investigation."
