Oakham Town Council Office Temporarily Closed Due to Staff Illness

Residents of Oakham are advised that the Oakham Town Council office will be closed until further notice. This unexpected closure comes as both the Town Clerk and the Deputy Clerk are currently unable to work due to stress-related illnesses.

The announcement, made earlier today, expressed the Council's regret for any inconvenience this may cause to the public. It also conveyed sincere well wishes to both members of staff for a swift and full recovery.

"The Town Council is deeply concerned for the well-being of our Clerk and Deputy Clerk,"  a member of the council said, We understand the pressures of public service and are saddened that these pressures have unfortunately impacted their health. We extend our full support to them during this time and wish them both a speedy return to good health."

While the duration of the closure remains uncertain, the Council has assured the public that they are actively exploring contingency plans.

It is currently unclear how residents will be able to access information or assistance typically provided by the Town Council. Further updates regarding alternative contact methods and service provisions are expected to be released by the Council in due course. Residents are encouraged to monitor the Oakham Town Council website and social media.

This situation highlights the significant pressures that can be placed on individuals in key administrative roles, particularly within local government. The well-being of staff is paramount, and the Council's immediate focus is understandably on supporting their recovery.

The community of Oakham will undoubtedly join the Town Council members in wishing both the Clerk and the Deputy Clerk a peaceful and restorative period of recovery.

Further updates on the situation will be provided as they become available. In the meantime, residents are asked to be patient and understanding as the Town Council works to address this unforeseen circumstance.
