Uppingham Town Council is holding its upcoming Full Council meeting on Wednesday, 5th August 2026, at 7:00 pm at the Uppingham Town Hall on High Street East. Town Clerk Adam Lowe has issued the formal summons and agenda for the session, which will cover key financial reviews, ongoing land management discussions, committee appointments, and local planning applications.
The council will review and authorize the receipts, payments, and bank reconciliation statements across all active cash books including the Hinckley & Rugby Building Society, Lloyds Current and Deposit accounts, Nationwide, and Cambridge Building Society for both June and July 2026. In addition to routine financial management, a major capital expenditure of £11,800.80 plus VAT for cemetery path repairs is slated for formal approval under financial regulations.
Discussions regarding the recreational land south of Leicester Road will also take center stage. Following previous talks, the council is set to evaluate new information regarding the open space behind Aris Close. Key updates include legal clarification confirming the land's original intent for public recreation, access point solutions for maintenance vehicles, walking route mapping, and proposals to install access gates under a £5,000 budget threshold. The topic has drawn strong public interest and written representations from local stakeholders advocating for low-impact, nature-focused conservation over commercial or high-risk development.
Beyond land and finance, members will address open committee seats, looking to fill current vacancies across the Amenities, Staffing, Finance, and Allotment Working Group committees. The agenda also includes reviews of local planning and tree preservation applications such as crown reduction at 2 London Road, safety works for dead trees at 5 Spring Back Way, and a pine tree felling application adjacent to 1 Hornbeam Lane. Furthermore, educational opportunities are being highlighted for newly elected and existing members to undertake upcoming remote training courses hosted via LRALC, alongside self-paced online GDPR training.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the meeting at the Town Hall and will have an opportunity to speak during the designated public session in accordance with the council's standing orders.
