Rutland County Councillor Alan Walters Questions about Oakham Town Councillors 25 Conduct Complaints Costing over £10,000

Most of the complaints are against me and the figure does not include those received
by Rutland County Council from the former Oakham Mayor Paul Beech.

There have been no complaints in the county from any other parish council.

The Conduct committee can not sanction any councillor. It can recommend a parish
council might like to remove a member from a committee. As if working for
your community on a Oakham Town Council committee could be considered a privilege.
More recently Oakham Town Council have  shown their vindictive side by excluding me
from all working groups including make tea.

Just because they don't want me on the council for pointing out their mistakes.
Such as the serious failing of not submitting accounts to the external auditor
due to mistakes they did not want to know about.

The Council who find it impossible to produce a strategic plan, can certainly
bully and produce pointless costly conduct complaints. Led by the Mayor
Cllr Alf Dewis.

Some members are bullied into sending complaints to Rutland County Council
last night a former town councillor who recently resigned from the council stating
he was a victim of aggression said he was asked to to send in complaints about me.
He told me he decided not to and suggested the council should just get
on with the job it is meant to do.

They don't seem content with the millions they have cost the taxpayer
since 2010.

Text of Cllr Alan Walters Question:

Without revealing any names or personal details, Could the leader of the council please detail the total number of standards complaints raised by Oakham Town Councillors against each other so far this municipal year? In his response could he indicate the total where no further investigation has been required, the total proceeding to investigation, and the total where no such decision has yet been made. Could he also detail the total number of standards complaints raised by councillors of other parishes in Rutland so far this municipal year?

(Supplementary)Without prejudice to any determinations, and while fully accepting the rights of councillors to raise standards complaints, could the leader indicate the estimated total cost of processing complaints made by Oakham Town Councillors against each other so far this year, and could he also offer guidance on the likely future impact on resources if a substantial number of complaints proceed to further investigation. In his response could he remind councillors of the maximum sanction this council can impose if a complaint is upheld?
